Macedonian dolls

This 21cm male doll, made of cloth over wire armature, is wearing a folk costume from Skopska Crna Gora which is near Skopje, capital of North Macedonia. Skopska Crna Gora is a mountain range and ethnographic region which takes in Kosovo and Serbia as well as North Macedonia. In light of that this costume could also be classified as Serbian .

Notable for me is the light coloured long vest known as a dzhube. It is worn over the shorter red vest with a decorative rope made of metallic thread. The Macedonian dolls in the range can also be found wearing a blue dzhube, and I have included a photo of the two variations below.

I have also included some plates from The National Dresses of Macedonia which is a large folio of folk costume prints published by the Ethnological Museum of Skopje in 1963. Alongside drawings of the costumes, it contains patterns and detailed descriptions of the clothing.
