Macedonian dolls

Some years ago I acquired 5 sets of 8" Narodna Radinost dolls depicting the regions of the former Yugoslavia with only Croatia missing. Still in their distinctive double boxes, they are high quality dolls in almost mint condition. The pair pictured here are from Macedonia and I think they wear costumes from different regions with the woman from the Skopska Blatija region and the man from Galicnik. The male wears a wonderful brown woollen jacket with cream fitted trousers trimmed in black and a cream coloured scull cap. The red striped silk sash at his waist gives some colour and his shoes are brown leather with white bindings. The woman has some fine embroidery on her sleeves and at her neck and wears a coral necklace. Her white head scarf is trimmed with a red flower and her apron is made from a wonderful woven fabric.
