Pictured here are a pair of 8" stockinette dolls wearing a costume from Slovenia. The female doll has some lovely detailing on her scarf and around the head band and wears a fine silver thead belt at her waist. The male doll wears a costume quite commonly seen on Slovenian costume dolls with the very simple vest and britches worn with leather boots. The button detailing is unusual and adds some much needed visual interest to the doll.
For me the Slovenian dolls made by Narodna Radinost seem to fail to some extent to do justice to the wonderful Slovenian folk costumes. The Macedonian dolls and Bosnian dolls I think come much closer to giving a sense of the original.
