Montenegrin Dollls







These two dolls are approximately 12 inches in height and wear a traditional costume from Montenegro or Crna Gora.

The male doll wears a red hat with a black band and gold thread embroidered detail on top. Over his white shirt he wears a waist length long sleeved jacket with thick gold ribbon at the front. To finish is another jacket with slits in the arms which enable the sleeves to hang down the back. At his waist he has a colourful sash. The trousers are blue and very roomy and taper down to his white socks and brown leather opanci.




She wears a fitted red woollen felt bolero trimmed with gold thread over a white shirt trimmed at the cuffs with lace. The shirt has colourful red,yellow and purple embroidery down the front which would be sewn on a detachable piece of material in the human version. The flared skirt is made of a white silk-like fabric and underneath is a ric rac trimmed petticoat and bloomers. A long sleeveless vest is worn over the top in aqua and is embroidered with the gold cord common to the Balkans. A belt of coloured thread  is worn around the waist and the shoes are black leather. She wears a black lace head scarf to indicate she is a married woman. She also has a Narodna Radinost label attached by red thread to her waist
